The Phanerozoic Eon covers only the last 10% of Earths history. That is about 550 million years. We are currently in that time period. These time periods are split up into many groups such as the Cenozoic, Mesozoic, and the Paleozoic Era's.
The Paleozoic Era the Cambrian Explosion occurred. At this time there was a huge increase in the diversity of these multicellular animals. Towards the end of this Era 90% of water life was wash away and extinct.
The Mesozoic Era was known as " The Age of the Reptiles". During this time the dinosaurs ruled the endless forest. At the end of the era there was a mass extinction, but the scientist don't know why. Also the continents were starting to break apart.
The Cenozoic Era was known as " The Age of the Mammals". This is during the present day meaning today 2016.
Fossils// Fossils has given scientist information about Earth before humans. A fossil is the preserved remains of an organism which is actually found in rock formations. Fossils can be found in may different shapes and sizes. Some types of fossils are the mold and cast, trace, true form, and carbon film. Fossils are found underneath water and sediment on land.
