Unit 1 lesson 3 Evidence of Evolution
Galapagos Finches:
The Finches has traveled from island to island, to get the a variety of food. Some of the food choices are fruit, insects, cactus's, and or seeds. Over the years the Galapagos Finches changed over time. For a example the groups that were eating the seeds there beaks were very thick and strong. They did well because the finches could break open the seeds to eat. Some of the small beaks the finches had didn't really survive as well. The reasons that causes this because their beaks were skinny.
Evolution: In our world many organisms adapt to their national environment based on what they need to survive. When the organism's change over time in response to their environment that is called evolution!
The Fossil Record// Rock Strata//
Layers of rock is called rock strata. The further down in the Earth a fossil is, the older it is. Since the fossils are in sequential order, they can provide evidence of the evolutionary changes of specific organisms, and this is from oldest to youngest.
Homologies// " HOMO MEANS THE SAME"
There are three different Homologies such as........
1. anatomical ( the structures look the same)
2. cellular ( organelles are the same)
3. molecular (molecules are the same) ((.... ALL LIVING THINGS CONTAIN DNA AND RNA))
Vestigial Structures: It is a structure of an organism that has no apparent purpose. Us humans have one, but we don't have a tail. But we still have a bone that would be attached if it was there. The Vestigial Structure gives us clues about evolution.
