Bones are quickly covered in sediment. The remains of the fossil becomes buried quickly after death occurs. The fossils are covered up with layers of sediment. Also the minerals in the water fill in tiny spaces in the bones. As time passes, pressure and chemical reactions transform the remains into a fossil. Each process is different when Fossilization occurs. Water helps the fossils it goes into the fossil when its wet and it hardens, so that's good.
